What do you think?

I dont know what to say, but i really like the game! i enjoy it so far. i know that you copied some assets but the game mechanics are totally different. thats why i like it!

I thought this game looked like it would be fun, and I really love the official SuperTux (I always have ever since I was a child, so I'm so so so so so happy with how far SuperTux has come all these years) so I decided I wanted to try it out. Anyway, now that I have tried it out, as much as I love the official SuperTux and as much as I find ReTux's plot to be funny and I love this game's plot as a result, I sadly find ReTux to be very unfun. If I may make some criticism:

I think the physics could use a lot of work, particularly my biggest issues are momentum and turning around, and yeah, they're really quite bad enough IMO they ruin my enjoyment of the game. Turning around is so heavy it might as well be non-existent when in the air and feels very delayed and bad both in the air and walking. I feel like the game is trying to do that Super Mario 64/Super Mario 64 DS thing where turning around in the air is limited, except not only did it work better for those other games, but also that ReTux tries to do this when simply walking as well. It's practically impossible to turn around in the air and very heavy and delayed to turn around in general, which makes platforming, in a platformer game, a lot harder than it needs to be, so I gave up trying to go onto a pipe in one of the earlier levels that lead to a bunch of coins, there are a lot of areas with coins I don't know how to reach but that could just be me not exploring the levels enough. But my point is, platforming is really hard because of the weird turning and not only because of that, but momentum is pretty inconsistent too, and I often find myself having really little momentum when it's inconvenient, and it's really hard to do so much as jumping on things as a result of both my issues with the momentum and turning and I find myself running into enemies and taking damage instead. I keep taking damage a lot and I even accidentally fell down a cliff in "Over the five pillars of snow" and the worst part is, neither of those were ever my fault so much as they were problems with the game's very odd physics. I would not have run into so many enemies or fell down a cliff at the beginning of "Over the five pillars of snow" if not for my problems with the game's physics. I guess others maybe able to get used to it, but I don't know, the physics just don't favor me.

That said, I do think the vision this game goes for is quite neat and unique, which I like about it. Contrary to the official SuperTux and to standard Mario games, power ups (well, fire flower anyway, hadn't gotten far enough to see if there's any other power ups) are something Tux can pick up and drop like he can Mr. Iceblock with limited use, and I must say I find that unique and interesting as I'm not sure of any other game I can think of at the top of my head, or at least any other I'm interested in, in which power ups work like that instead of disappearing after being grabbed and giving the player a new ability until the player takes damage and loses the ability. I think this game looks like it has the potential to be a lot of fun and a great experience, should any of my criticism on the game's physics be taken. I hope my criticism here is constructive and helpful.

Tux is just getting ready to go fishing when all of a sudden, he receives a message. The message states that his home, Icy Island, has been taken over by the Snow King, and a new Fish Tax will be imposed. Tux is furious! How dare the Snow King take away his fish?! Help Tux overthrow the Snow King and stop him from taking Tux's fish away!

ReTux is a libre open source action platformer loosely inspired by the Mario games, utilizing the art assets from the SuperTux project. The name "ReTux" is a play on the words "redux" and "Tux".

Although ReTux re-uses the art assets of SuperTux, no code from SuperTux is used in ReTux. The software portion of ReTux is entirely different, written in Python and based on the Seclusion Game Engine.
