What do you think?

Awesome graphics, average game play, average controls. 3/5
Things that should be improved:
-The ship moves around too slow.
-The bullets are slow too. These first 2 things make the game dull. I shooters I like lots of bullets and fast action.
-The graphics are great, though it's a shame you didn't spend a bit of extra time making more frames for the main ship and enemies. I like seeing the ships doing banks and rolls, etc. Even just 5 frames for the main ship(2 different angles on each side) so it can look like it banks when you turn. Most vertical shooters have this features and it looks sweet.

Anyways, good job!

I've marked this project as cancelled since I plan on rehauling it later on using GLbasic.

Basic system requirements:

1ghz processor or better. (have ran it on a 550mhz with so-so resualts)
32mb video card or better. (Old ATI cards seem to have issues with blend mode effects)
512mb ram. (not tested on anything with lower ram)

General Info:

Included in this demo are 4 stages(demonstration levels) and start up title screen. Its actually the part of the title when you have already selected start a new game, but right now I'm working mostly on improving game play.

Title Screen:

Choose either start game or highscore.

You can select difficulty(does nothing) and type a name for your score display.

Click or double click arcade mode to play.

In Game:

You'll see a hud on the top right when you enter the game, the blue bar represents your shield(which regenerates -very- slowly), the yellow bar is your energy(used by basic weapon and boost) and the silver bar represents your armor(once its gone your gone).

So far I've three basic enemy ships, two types of ground units and two mini-bosses.

Sometimes when an enemy dies it will leave behind a floating badge or shield core. Shield cores will give you +50% to your shield and the badges will give you credits.

Score Board

At the end of each level your achievements will be tallied up and a total score is given. You also will get bonus credits and badges depending on how well you did. Any lost shield or armor, however, will be deducted from your credits.

Badges and Ranks

Depending on your score, kills, shield and armor you will get a badge for your exceptional skills...
Killing all opponents will earn you a perfect kill badge for each stage cleared out
Ending a stage with either full armor and/or shield, will give you another badge.
High scores also will earn you badges.

High Score List

This really has no function other then to stand as a template for when I start having the game record and sort highscores.

Keyboard Controls:

Arrow keys to move.
Z to shoot.
X to do a 180.
C to use boost(use 25% of your energy)

Joystick/pad Controls:

Analog stick/directional pad to move.
Button 1 to shoot.
Button 2 to do a 180.
Button 3 to use boost(use 25% of your energy)
