This is the legacy version of SONIC_1.smd. An entire rewrite is under works and will be released soon, alongside an entirely different storyline & direction.
I'm keeping this up for archival.
This game is NOT what it seems, some guy handed this to me, told me to be careful, and warned me not to encounter him. I should've listened while I had the chance.
I can barely sleep. There's something in my dreams that keeps telling me how ignorant I was, always repeating the same sentences over and over again, all because I dug too deep into my own tombstone.
If you value your sanity, do me a favor and don't play this game.
I'm only posting this game here not because I want others to suffer the same fate, but to prove I'm not crazy, to prove a point. People don't believe me when I tell them everything, so be it. I'll let them figure it out for themselves.

Sonic's got everything a hedgehog could ever want: tricks, gadgets and speed. So don't blink or you might just miss him. Sonic is sold separately or included when you buy a Sega Genesis 16-bit system.
...just make sure you don't encounter him when you boot the game up. : )

Q: What is Xaethos?
A: Xaethos is a conjunction of corrupted code and line addresses. This conglomerate had turned sentient, taking Sonic as a vessel. Now, it haunts the game waiting for unfortunate souls to play it. It is capable of causing severe psychological trauma to the point the effects are permanent; the people who played the game are now constantly in a state of doubt.
Q: Does Xaethos have a gender?
A: Xaethos is genderless.
Q: What is Xaethos' perferred method of killing?
A: Since Xaethos cannot exit the game itself, it perfers to induce traumatic episodes, causing them to push its victims to the brink of bodily harm, potentially leading up to death.
Q: Am I allowed to make fanart of Xaethos?
A: Of course! You can post it wherever you want.
This game is still in early development. As such, some things seen in certain versions of the game might be changed in the near future.
