What do you think?

Well this is looking very promising so far! I love the style, feels like we're walking through an inky painting. It's a unique take on the side-scrolling action genre, and I'm all in!

I'm guessing that the tentacle creatures are just the first of many different types on enemy that will be on display if a full game comes to fruition, but they provide enough menace (and alarming speed!) to make this small taster tough but beatable!

The use of different items to provide different styles of attack and defence is really clever too, so you can swap in and out depending on what kind of tactics you're gonna need. It's also something you can really expand on too, there can be so many different combinations!

This is something I'd definitely play a longer version of, and I hope you find time to pull it together, because I'll be all over that like a bad rash! Keep up the awesome work =)

I finished playing the demo and I must say the physics job and the art is done very well. I did get killed by the monsters twice but I did make my way by powering up the attack.

Looking forward to the full version!

Whoa, this looks so cool!

Source of Madness is a dark platform shooter game with rogue-like elements.

We're still working hard on turning this into a full awesome game.
But already today we'd love to hear your thoughts on this first Alpha demo!

We have a lot of nice things planned for the full version, and you'll find:

  • Unique dynamic monsters each play-through (powered by machine learning)

  • Randomized levels in a rich physics based world

  • A lot of spells! We haven't decided the exact mechanics but they will be awesome!

Prologue

Far up in the skies, every full moon, you can see the towers of Madness staring back. We the cult of knowledge knows and stores the past and sometimes the future. We know of how rivers once flowed on the moon and of the libraries lost to madness.

We will open the third gate to give access to the moon once more. It is dangerous but we must go, in order to end the madness. We with knowledge must close the box of Pandora.

Hello mad people! We added gravity to the fire ball spell, and it turned out more fun to use, and lets you hit monsters in new ways :D

Adding a spell combo to the Oculus Ring. The last step unleashes three homing projectiles upon nearby enemies. Devastating!

Reworking the vampire ring! More life leech and damage, but only leeches in the final combo step. Be careful or you'll drain yourself!
