We are just two uni students trying to figure out how to make a game in Unity. So, we made a mod of an asset provided by Unity called 'Survival Shooter'.
We wanted to make a very tension filled experience with this game, so all the modifications we made to the base game revolved around achieving this feeling of tension, like games such as Dark Souls or Devil Daggers. Our levels (there are two), are especially challenging, meaning that they are meant to put pressure on the player to succeed. Both of our level also focus around two different ways of creating tension - the first level is all about strategic play, learning enemy patterns, and tension created with unsettling aspects (such as lots of random spinning tops). Our second level is much larger, and promotes exploration. Tension is created in this level thanks to the commitment needed for the player to engage with this level for such a long time. If you die, you loose all your progress, and that is a key way of creating tension in our game. Although these are just some contributors, we have many, MANY other ways we aimed to create a tense experience with our mod of the survival shooter asset. We hope you like our game!
