Super Clash Bros - 2019 version
This is the old version from 2019. It has more characters, levels, and Michael Jackson, but it's very buggy and the physics aren't good and it doesn't have the editors/mod support or the new character select screen and all the other new stuff.
Super Clash Bros is a fangame that completely reimagines Smash Bros. The characters are kept very accurate to their original games and source material, including their abilities, controls, physics, health systems, inventories, etc. The levels in adventure mode will be remakes from their games too (adventure mode isn't complete and currently only has a few WIP example levels from Mario games).
I've been working on this since 2015. It's a huge project that's undergone a lot of rewriting so it's still far from done, but the battle mode is definitely fun with a group of friends.
All the characters from the old version of the game will return soon, they haven't been converted to the new version yet.
For now it's local multiplayer only but you can play online via Parsec. Built-in online play is coming someday.
Almost every gamepad should work. I play with my childhood SNES controller via USB adapter.
