Alright, so I tried your little game and I can see some potential! :)
It is only in the pre-alpha so I can see why the game would be bare-bones, because there's really not that much to do honestly. XP
in my opinion, the movement is too slippery, and sometimes I just get dragged to random places all the time which I experience as jarring because I am just trying to focus on shooting the zombies. but except for that it's fine I mean I liked the idea of slowing down when stepping on blood. :)
The shooting is very odd, the bullets don't go anywhere in particular and just stand there, which makes it really hard to actually kill the zombies because it's more like laying down tons of mini-bear traps instead of bullets. XP
Sound effects could be added, I didn't feel that much satisfaction when shooting zombies honestly, and sometimes I didn't even know if I even killed it at all.
As for the graphics...I think it could be improved (like the puddle of blood) I didn't realize the blood was blood until I looked at the description! But otherwise I really like the artstyle I am a big fan of these low-rez pixelart games! :)
Also, I had to quit with Alt + F4, maybe you should add a quit button. :P
Neat little game! I will follow it for more updates! I hope it becomes it's own thing! :D

WASD - Movement
Left Mouse Button (LMB) - Shoot
Tips:
Stay near a bush for 2 seconds and get 35+ health.
Powerups spawn every 45 seconds,
Zombies start spawning faster and faster,
When you press the mouse button AND release it, a bullet is fired,
Walking on blood slows you down severely.
