Business has been going pretty good lately for Catt Co, the nation's leading assassination agency. They're a crew of 9 peeps, who rent themselves out as hitmen, and kill whoever you want to have killed. It's a violent profession, but it pays the bills! In fact, it's been paying the bills a lot more ever since they made a technological breakthrough, and began producing MEOWdroids; mechanical replicas of the Catt crew, who can be sent on the assassination missions instead. It's so effective in fact, that they have produced literal hundreds of them at this point, and the organic, flesh-and-blood founders of the company! Although... that all turns sour when one day, the entire droid army has been compromised by some nameless hacker, and the droids have all had their target set to the Catt crew. It looks like impending doom for the 9 mercenaries; they're surrounded on all sides, they're doomed. Unless... unless, maybe, they can survive. Maybe, they can fight back against all of the hundreds of droids, and live to see another day...

So, to rewind quite a bit, back in 2019, I met a bunch of the coolest people on Earth got roped into this friend group server on Discord that has shaped my life ever since. Frankly a lot of stuff went down in that server, but the main thing at the core holding the group together was these roleplays we'd have. Everyone had a character or two or a few dozen that they'd control- some original, some from games or shows we liked- and we'd just go on these sorta random adventures and quests. Something akin to DnD, but with no dice, no dungeons, no dragons, and pretty much no stakes- to be perfectly honest, it was mostly just inconsequential goofing around. It wasn't really anything all that spectacular, but... I dunno. It was just so completely delightful. It eventually became a tradition for us to hunker down into these longer Roleplay sessions that could go on for hours. And these roleplays, they went on for years- we must have gone through hundreds, hundreds of characters, and the story that tied it all together kept changing, and moving onward, and evolving. And these stories were my first muse- making little artworks of the characters from it was what really got me into making Digital Art for the first time, and my writing abilities also owe a lot of their foundations to those stories. And it is these skills that have enabled me to pursue Game Development at all. If it weren't for this story... well, most of my games probably wouldn't exist.

So this all just, kept going until around late 2021, when we all just kinda began to go our separate ways, and the Roleplay ended up getting largely abandoned. That's not to say it was instantly completely over- me and this other guy was in the server (You know who you are!) kept some of the story going in some one-on-one versions of the Roleplay, but pretty much any characters that weren't ours were just left behind, and this continuation also fizzled out. So at this point, the story is just, completely over. It has fossilized from "is" to "was." But it was quite a wild ride, worth it from start to finish.

So, getting back on topic, this game is basically a loose adaptation/reimagined retelling of, some stuff that was happening early on in the roleplay. I dunno. I was just feeling really nostalgic- I do that all the time- and wanted to make this, this testament to that time of my life, to perhaps give it some sort of closure.
