I was actually very confused while playing this game as I had not read anything about it before playing it. Well, if the goal was to make an ambiental game for people to relax with, then I'd say it's sort of a success. The music was also quite nice.
Vento (meaning wind in portuguese) is a simple game about nature.
You follow a seed that is flying through the sky, carried by the wind.
In the bottom right corner of the screen, you are presented with a keyboard key you can type (only if you want to) to help the seed reach the ground. If you don't do anything, eventually the seed will go away and a painting made by my friend will appear.
Made as an experiment, it was my first game in a programming language (C++, with SDL as the underlying library).
Unfortunately I lost the (awful) source code and I can't compile it anymore nor change anything. The game runs in full screen only, and there is no way of changing that :-(
(I hate my old self)
About
Made in early 2008, I was eager to do something more real in terms of technical detail and learn a programming language. This was before I enrolled in college. I finished studying C++ online, got through a simple SDL tutorial and tried making something pretty, and this was it.
It's buggy and not really optimized, but I actually enjoy the end result.
The music is named Roots, by the amazing Galdson, available with a Creative Commons licence here.
