A different approach

RPGmaker games are fun to make, don’t get me wrong. But they have to be done well, and I have a lot of competition in that regard. This is my first foray into making games but I didn’t want it to be just a, “Please play my first game ever” foray. I hope to make a good impression with this.

So I decided to go on n entirely different approach to the engine and see if I could pull of a cinematic side scroller RPG. The atmosphere seems to work pretty well, and it took me a while to get used to anchoring the parallax backgrounds. A mixture of cut and paste and 3d work to make a scrapbook approach to the adventure seems to be artistic enough for me, so hopefully it will translate into game form too. Well that’s all the news so far, 55% complete and hoping for a release soon. Watch this space.

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
