SURGE originally started as concepts and drawings around 2017 before eventually becoming a playable prototype years later.
But what I care about most with SURGE isn’t just “cube jumps to music.”
The goal was always atmosphere and immersion.
Feeling like you’re moving through massive spaces while the music carries you forward.
The camera movement, the transitions, the pacing, the worlds, all of that matters just as much to me as the gameplay itself.
It started as drawings and ideas back in 2017 and eventually became something playable circa 2022-2024
I finally decided to put the prototype build out publicly instead of letting it sit on my drive forever.
It’s rough in places, unfinished, and still early, but it’s real, playful, and has heart.
The soundtrack plays a major role in the identity and pacing of the experience.
Feedback is appreciated. Game is available on GameJolt and Itch
