Addition and Rule-breaking

Today’s game was over simplistic so I’m not going to spend much time talking about it (it’s a one choice text advetnure due in part to me experimenting with making fonts for the most of the hour).

What I am going to talk about is whether or not I should condense the first two weeks into this file. I would like to, but I only started limiting the screen size to 320x240 after the second week; and seeing the screen resizing itself, when playing the first two weeks games, is rather painful to watch.

I do, however, have to make a few changes to this week. Two of the first games exit the game and do not send you back to main menu; and since I’m going to change that (I’ll do it tommorow), I might as well change some of the screen sizes for weeks one and two. It might make them a little blurry, but at least it will spare the player a more brutal pain.

A Basic Platformer I’m taking back what I said yesterday, and am dedicating the rest of this week to making platformers. Today’s went very well. I was able to add in a shooting mechanic, destructible boxes, a life system, and an automatic door.

Heartless I decided to leave out the sprite for jumping today. Instead, I focused my time on adding in two different weapons (a rifle and a rocket launcher), and some destrucible terrain.

Lost Mage Today’s game is Lost Mage. You wander around as a lost mage, pick up articulate mage staffs, and notice vague references to previous games.

No More Shops! Today’s game is a, finally, working shop menu. You switch between buying and selling a very small collection of items, (potions, ethers, and somas) and because I had extra time, I was able to add some sounds.

Blue and Green Today’s game is rather difficult to explain. On one hand it is an arena shooter; on the other hand, it has small traces of yesterdays game in it. It can also be a one-player or two-player game. Anyway, heres a screenshot.

Fight! I was able to make a two player game today. Fight! has you commandeering either the red or green ship, and then blasting your foe to bits. Also, as of today, this project is twenty-percent complete.

The Twenty-second Day

Terminal Today’s game is a point and click called Terminal. You explore the floating city of terminal from its warehouse to its hangars while learning about its inhabitants and how they treat you.

World Map 2 This is probably more a map of places than an actual world map. Anyway, the game is called Liabus; you scroll through the four places that occupy the land of liabus, and read a short description on each of them.
