As you can see, it's going... in some direction. They're not supposed to get violently flung across the map like that, this is a new thing I just realised they're doing. Yay, more debugging!

Next up

Finally! an asset for this actual game instead of an old, unrelated one! I kind of hate it she keeps going momentarily bald, and how have I made her legs so weird, and I really need to make it transition nicer between directions... but it's a start!

Presenting as promised... one sprite! This is the first time I ever felt like I got the top-down angle right, so I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself. Now I get to do the fun part!

Mmm... I changed my mind. This one's better.

Oh no... time has accidentally happened. Again. And now I have to totally restart the art direction because my style is more like this and not really anything like the sprite I drew so now I kind of hate it.

Waaay better. Also, wriggly physics hair! She'll get an idle animation and even wrigglier hair eventually, but now I've fixed all the rendering bugs and remembered how to animate, maybe it's time to start adding content... can't avoid it forever, right?

I used to be ok at this but now I kind of suck. They really should make it so skills don't degrade over time and we can put them in a box and never think about them again for half a decade with no consequences. #pixelart #gamedev #GIMP

I remembered how to draw sort of!! Although perfectionism is not being my friend right now... maybe soon I'll stop pushing vectors around and actually achieve something, who knows, really? Maybe I'll push vectors around forever! It's anyone's game!!

A menu! And a screen transition!! (that only works when loading files rn..) This all took way too long. But it does look cool!! Now let's see if I can do story time without writing an entire autobiography...
