Bear Trap: Greddy's - Week 4 Progress Update

Sup, Aaron here.

Fourth week now! Thanks for the 117 people following the game, you make me motivated to keep the development ongoing. Thank you for your support!

I will repeat the following for every post, for new people: Beart Trap: Greddy's is a FNaF fan game that is being made in Godot by yours truly. Every week I'll post a new update, showcasing the progress I've made for the game. :)

Animatronic Bits & Gigs

There hasn't been a lot progress animatronic-wise, as this week I've been mostly finishing and polishing all of the animatronic mechanics in a written document.

I've also drawn a few sprites, but not much from here. What I've been mostly working is in the following two things.

Night Structure

The game consists of only one night, divided in hours that are also divided in half each hour.

For example: 12 AM would be the equivalent of Night 1 in a normal FNaF fan game. Then, 12AM is divided in two time frames: 12:00am-12:30am; and 12:30am to 01:00am.

The first half an hour will consist of normal office gameplay. The second half, however, will consist of a distinct minigame each time.

Finally, as you may know if you read the game description, the office gameplay does NOT advance with time (like the classic FNaF games) but by completing tasks. What tasks? Well...

Forest Clues

Forest Clues is the name of the tasks you will be doing during the night. It is a Cluedo/Clue inspired game, where everal evidences and cleus are given to you, having to choose a culprit, their victim and the method they used to kill them.

To complete each the "office gameplay" part of each hour, you will have to complete X number of "cases" of Forest Clues.

Each one is randomized and the number of options varies depending on your stage in the game. There is also an error counter, which will make you lose the run if you commit a certain number of errors each night.

It is a fast paced task that can be completed quick if you know what you are doing. You open it by interacting with the laptop.

Anything else? ++

I've added several small details to make the movement around the office more intuitive.

I've also optimized previous codes, fixed some bugs originated from upgrading Godot to a newer version and fixing a mechanic that you could do with the circuit breaker levers.

Miscellaneous

I've watched the fifth Scream movie. Very enjoyable, better than the third and the fourth. In my opinion, at the level of the first and second ones.

I'm exhausted. There is A LOT of work in July in my job. Seems that things slow down in August, but today has been very tiring. My head hurts.

Either way, I'm stubborn and I want to make more progress on the game. I've been having some ideas that I want to apply.

That's all for now. Thanks for all the support through the likes and by following the game, I appreciate it!

Have a nice day, everyone!

Aaron Gordon

PD: I don't want to show Forest Clues for now, I want to make it a surprise.

Mixlas has always been one of my greatest inspirations.

When BNC released, I was inspired to start developing fan games. Even my first YT videos are speedruns of Tyke and Sons Lumber Co.

I pray for him and his family. RIP to one of the greatest.
