Because one stab is not enough!

Let us tell you something…

Pavor is almost reaching 10k downloads!

Thank you to everyone that played, commented and made videos of our little game! We never expected to have so many people playing it, even after five months, so we thought about sharing some stuff with all of you. ;)

We made Pavor in September, 2017, as a gameplay prototype to test an idea - make a game about manipulating your friends in a party to kill them unnoticed. They would be going about their business, eating, having fun, peeing… and you would end their lives horribly.

Since our inspiration was the first Scream movie (the party at the last third of the movie, to be more specific), it informed a lot of the decisions that we made about the game, specially the “change costume” mechanic. This was central to what we wanted to create, making the player think about when to act as their friend or show its true identity as a cold blooded killer.

Another key element of Pavor was making the killing of your friends seem like something natural, but at the same time close and personal, intimate, even. The characters are very dear to us, almost as if they were our kids, and we feel that it shows in the game. Below, you can see the first version of the characters as some pink buddies, still unaware of what would happen with them a few versions later:

Even though the game had some bugs and we couldn’t put everything that we planned in it, we think that we succeeded at making Pavor a fun little prototype. All of this, combined with so many of you playing, enjoying and asking for more content made us decide to start working on a new version, that we mentioned briefly on the last DevLog. We’re currently planning what we want to do with it and will tell you more later. As a small “thank you” gesture, you can download the menu illustration (made by Cajila Barbosa) as a 1920 x 1080 wallpaper by right clicking the following image and selecting “Save image as…”:

Tell us in the comments if there’s something you want to know more about Pavor and if there’s something you’d like to see on the new version!

Until the next killing DevLog! o/

Would you kindly test the game for us?

Did you know that today is #InternationalJazzDay? 🎷😎

No? 😯 Well, we couldn't pass up this date!

And what better to celebrate this day than #Pecaminosa #OST? 🎷

Let us know what you think about it and have a great weekend!

Here's a peaceful little forest scene for this #screenshotsaturday, from the beginning of the game.

We made a lot of improvements on the Freezing Plains visual. Things like pine trees, tiny bushes, some rocks, and others game props!

I was bored, so... ManutKat.

In the quest for accessibility, I'm adding Resurrection Shrines for players on the 'novice' end of the platforming spectrum.

In order to unlock the power of a Shrine, you must collect 3 'Souls' from your dead corpses! (the floating blue orbs)

I worked so hard to get all four of them to the end safely, but then...

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
