About 3 hours into the contest and we have the general concept pretty well nailed down with a design doc. We were kind of hoping the contest theme would be more interesting than the obvious apocalypse the logo hinted at for inspiration’s sake, but that wasn’t the case. We didn’t have any immediate ideas, so I mentioned an old concept for stealth game I’ve been wanting to make for years now.
When we were trying to figure out what exactly to do with the stealth elements outside of the central gimmick, Sew pointed out we had a lot of good, easy ideas from a game we tried to make years ago called “Patient 06”. Naturally we intended to release it on 06/06/06, but well, that didn’t happen. Still, we took those old ideas and streamlined them enough to fit into a 72hr contest game. Naturally, we’ve completely redone the setting/story to fit with the contest. Obviously it’s a very good idea to try to make a game you failed at making for months in just 72hrs (with an engine you’ve only been tinkering with before).
I have about 4 hours of productivity left before I need to sleep and my only real goals are to get the lighting system functional, and setup a repository online so we can start sharing work. Should be pretty easy since I remember some lighting examples in the Godot demos, I hope I’m not remembering.
