A new version of Bitfighter has been released!
The latest in the 019 series brings a number of bug fixes and incremental improvements, but also a few much-requested features. New badges, integration with gaming site GameJolt, simplified bot management, and highlighting of local servers are all included.
There were some important changes in the editor. Thanks to one of our Google Code-in students, key bindings can now be assigned in the INI, so you can make things work the way you want. The team definition menu now has an interactive color picker, and you can enter colors using either RGB or HTML hex notation.
We’ve included several awesome editor plugins, including “Convert Objects” that transforms one type of object into another, and a cool wall clipping tool that makes it easier to get creative with wall shapes.
Finally, Pleiades (our online level database) has been upgraded — it now handles larger levels and shows better screenshots. Upload your levels and start rating as you play!
Oh, and one bonus feature that’s very bleeding edge: you can now tell your server to record games, and play them back using the special in-game viewer. We’ll be building out that capability in the future, to allow you to watch games from any player’s viewpoint.
The dev team is really proud of this release, and we’re already hacking away to make the next version even better! Download Bitfighter 019a today!
