The teaser this week is somewhat of a continuation of an earlier post, where we brought the Earth Elemental to you, explaining that a key aspect of its design included not just anger, but a range of human emotions felt and experienced by the cursed, suffering spirits that manifest them.

In many ways, the Fire Elemental is no different. Similarly, it is a host to restless spirits, yet in contrast, that spirit is perhaps more enraged than broken. The diverse denizens of Varnurud testify that the two elementals are different in that their anger is represented in disparate ways; the Earth Elemental holds a deep grudge and sadness, while the Fire Elemental manifests a furious rage.

And of course, these spirits of flame and fire are mostly found in or near the scalding locales that sustain their fleeting form: lava lakes and rivers of magma. The innermost regions of the old Dwarven kingdom – those perilous locales where few have reached since the cataclysm – are said to be where they make their homes, volatile as they are. None who are attuned to the spirits have journeyed there and lived to tell the tale, but there is still time for an intrepid vagrus with the right motivation…

Will that be you, or will you shy away and play it safe, as many outsiders have in Varnurud?

We have not called the expansion At the Heart of Ruin for no good reason.

As with all things, time will tell. Until that time comes, stay wary, stay prepared, and conquer the wasteland!
