I have officially started working on Carnage 2 — a sequel and reboot of my old arena shooter.
It will be a fast first-person shooter with roguelike progression, compact arenas and a focus on combat combinations. The player will use a sword, revolver, grenades, dodges and different skills without constantly switching weapons.
The main mechanic is Blood Tempo, which rewards varied attacks, movement and creative kills instead of simple button spamming.
The first public build is planned as version 0.5.0. It will feature one summer farm arena, four combat rounds, several enemy types and a final boss called the Forest Demon.
The game is being made in Unreal Engine 5.4.4 for Windows. Development has only just started, so the next updates will focus on the project foundation, movement, camera and the first combat tests.
