Dark Cell: Remastered - Dev diary #2

Greetings,

this week I continued to further improve the main character for the upcoming Remastered version. One of noticeable changes is the flickering of the flashlight. Once the player’s battery capacity falls below half, the light will get dimmer and start flickering. Check out the gif below:

I also re-worked the elevator. In the new version, you will control the elevator with ‘W’ and ‘S’. Pressing the same direction again will make the elevator stop, which makes moving up and down much faster. Furthermore, there will now be hints for every puzzle you encounter. While playing the game, I often wondered “what the hell am I supposed to do about these hanging cables?”, etc. To avoid situations like these that leave the player clueless, there will now be pop-up messages in almost every level with a hint that helps you figure out what the puzzle is about (but does not make the puzzle easier to solve).

Enemies that are in the game also went through a lot of re-work and polishing. They will behave differently and the player will have to figure out a way to avoid or outsmart them. I don’t want to spoil anything but let me asure you: you will never know what exactly is lurking in the dark. :)

Even though I started developing the new version about a week ago, the difference between the upcoming version and the current one is already huge. I did some testing with video recording and I must say, the new version will be a pleasure to play for all YouTubers that make ‘Let’s Play’ videos.

I’ll post further progress next week.

P.S. Over 30 600 views and 6 600 downloads. Thanks everyone!
