Day 134: Today was a bit weird. It started nicely. I was being productive and all. And then all of a sudden pouf all my motivation flew away. I was left as an empty shell automatically continuing the task out of sheer habit. This explains why I didn’t achieve as much as I wanted.
Daily interesting stuff:
Reddit post, “I code without a GDD is that bad?”. This quickly turned into a debate of whenever the GDD was actually useful or not. And that prototyping is good but not so much, and we never really know.
Reddit post, ranting on different keyboard layouts. It was really straightforward post, but someone wrote that not having rebindable inputs is inexcusable. And other didn’t agree. It takes time to implement this. And by principle no feature should be “entitled”.
Tasks done:
Copied the appropriate rooms for the last zone. Yes just like everyday of this week, I started by doing that. It’s called asset reuse. That was easy. But there were a lot of duplicates so it was more like a lottery thing. Oh and I messed up and ended up with a 100 rooms instead of 75. So I had to delete some rooms after. Of course I made sure that the deleted rooms were not unique rooms.
Did the enemy configuration of 75 rooms. It was harder than yesterday to do this. I think the last 20 rooms were made in automatic mode. I just had zero attention on it and placed stuff without thinking about it. But the result didn’t seemed so bad, so I guess that’s ok. In principle this end up the content of the game. But of course in reality, there’s probably a lot of errors to find and fixes to make. So I’ll spend tomorrow testing the newly created content, to make sure everything is ok. And since it won’t, I’ll fix it too. Well, that is if I don’t have the same problem I had today with motivation. If my brain persists to go into potato mode, I might take the day of, and end the sprint quickly. That’s frustrating, but I don’t see any other solution.
