Day 8 - Things exploding and sound

Not much time to work today, but I think the game is on schedule. On the other hand I just added two non trivial items to that priority list:

  • objectives system. Something to account for what the player is doing, like how much destruction, hostages saved, bad guys killed, time etc and then finish the level and start the next one.

  • Hostages. Sight. And yet another animated model is needed. I really didn’t want to but, after careful thinking about objectives, I realized how important it is to have one that demanded the player to hold up on the blowing up, otherwise it would be too simple. Hostages are simple in function though, they only have 3 states: restrained, ragdoll (for death) and freedom dance. After rescued (and making a little “yay” dance) they just disappear.

I’m really tempted to make Moonwalker reference and let the hostages do a little dance when rescued and then get taken by a comet to safety. But I fear it would be misplaced :P

I hope tomorrow I can get these two things working so the last day can be used for a few levels…
