What’s up guys, Newi here as always! I wanted to make this devlog earlier, but I forced myself to hold off until later so the upload time would be more consistent with last month, plus I didn’t wanna just post a whole bunch in one group and then just stop completely for almost two months, so I figured this would be the best way to do it.
THE REBOOT THE FUTURE OF THE PROJECT
So, there’s been an announcement that’s been held off for a while, only shown off to playtesters so far, but the truth is that…
DELTAFELL: Fallen Legend is becoming a Fangame!
We made the decision almost a month ago, with the release of the Sad Bread DELTARUNE engine [which you can find here:] we decided to switch over fully to speed up development, meaning everything is being built directly from scratch! On the contrary to what you might think, this has actually helped speed up development substantially, with all the rooms for the Light World in the demo already being fully complete! We’ve split the coders into three teams so far, with it being split into rooms, cutscenes, and gameplay. With the plan fully made, at the moment everything has been coming along quite nicely! We still do plan to show off some new stuff, but we do need some time still to finish rebuilding everything (which won’t take forever since all the assets for stuff we have finished still exist) For now, take these screenshots!
(All screenshots are taken from the new engine)
WRITING
There’s been more development on the main story alongside the dialogue, and in general It’s been going pretty good!
SPRITING
While it’s slowed down a bit, spriting development has still been going decently! Focus has been spread more throughout the demo, but things are still getting done.
CODING
With the new engine, we’ve been able to add new features to the game alongside the full revamp, one of them including…
Fully working discord presence! Currently, it shows your name, Level (depending on chapter) and room you’re in. (which in this case would be the big lobby area in the school.)
CLOSER
Hope ya'll have enjoyed this devlog, next time around there will be more to show from the new engine, but at the moment you’ll have to be patient and wait for what's to come! Either way, have a good day!
