Demo Patch 4 - 2.1.0 | November Progress Update!

Hey everyone!

Edit: Forgot to mention it - thank you everyone so much for 3k followers! I'm very proud to have that many users checking in on my game, here's to more milestones in the future!

Before delving into the progress update, Patch 4 is now available. It is a very small patch but I wanted to take care of a few final major bugs before development on the full game really ramps up.

Here's the change-log:

2.1.0 Patch notes

  • Putting your cursor between two options in the Main Menu no longer causes flickering between them

  • Window title changed from 'TEALERLAND' to 'TEALERLAND Demo'

  • Ladder on Intro Night should no longer be skippable via a glitch (which I didn't even know was something that existed until people used it in speed-runs, so consider me very impressed)

  • Intro cutscene now uses a different method of playback - meaning it should no longer appear washed out or 'gray' on some computers

  • Implemented potential fix for keyboard not working in-game (might end up not working, but I can't really think of how else I would fix it at the moment)

November 2020 Progress Update

This is just a little progress update regarding what I will be doing in terms of features and plans for the full game.

As development now phases from the demo to the rest of the game, here is what I wish to add:

New Improvements & Features for the Full Game

Along with more content (obviously), I've taken some feedback about the demo and tried to implement them as features for the full game.

I obviously can't spoil what's in store in terms of new nights, content and the like... but for now, here is some quality of life improvements the full game will hopefully bring to the table:

  • Multiple languages:

    • Yes, you read that right. The full game won't just be in English! At launch, I plan to support Spanish along with English (default).

    • The selected language will affect subtitles, and maybe voice acting as well. (More languages may be added in later on.)

  • Multiple control schemes:

    • Mainly Keyboard (what it is in current versions, WASD & E for navigation, sometimes mouse clicking for items)

    • Mainly Mouse (Click-based zones instead of WASD and E, items still also use clicking - More of a traditional FNaF input style)

  • 'Notification Tips':

    • These will be small tips that pop in at the top left of your screen during certain events that happen in game-play in early nights, in the style of notifications.

    • This would be toggle-able in the options menu. I plan for these to explain some small mechanics and aspects that the tutorial walkie-talkie doesn't.

  • Lure part counter:

    • Would show beside T-Lure during the construction of him, and would show how many more parts you need to complete the assembly. '0/3', '1/3', etc.

  • Night Selection Menu:

    • Replay previously beaten nights with activated perks & without losing your current progress

  • INI++ for encrypted save files

    • No savegame editing here...

  • And much more!

The Future of the Demo

I initially thought about adding most of this to the demo as an update, but after some consideration, I think it's best to shift the rest of my focus now onto implementing these features into the full game. (In addition to that, I want to keep things fresh and new for the full launch!)

I will still be doing occasional bug-fix and tweak patches for the demo (and also applying them to the full game as changes are made), but I will be saving major features for the full version.

The demo, of course, will remain up until the full game's launch, as always.

I, once again, have been appreciating the support this game has been getting for the past few weeks! Seeing all of this unfold will be something I remember for a long time. I'm very glad to have let everyone try out what's to come in a small little demo, and I am glad people enjoy it.

I'd also like to greatly thank each and every person who has contributed to this game's development - all of which are on the game page's description.

See you again soon!

It's about time for teasers to start being posted again soon... ;)
