Dev Blog Update: End of Week One Development

Hi and welcome to the first Dev Blog update! In this series I’ll go over what goals I set for the week, which ones got done (hopefully all of them), and other changes that have been made.

So far, last Friday marked the end of week one, but in terms of the road map I completed everything for weeks one and two. Which means I'll now have two weeks for polish instead of just one. As it stands, the systems currently in the game are as follows:

• One physics based weapon that the aim point of can be adjusted with the middle mouse for different ranges.
• Timing mechanic for keeping track of how long the player takes to complete the level.
• Simplistic medal system for killing all of the targets in a certain amount of time.
• Level restart system that also restarts the clock.
• One level, about 50% of which is complete. (Needs filler objects and I need to fix the lighting in most of the rooms.

Not too bad for the first real week of serious development, considering I've never developed a game before.

Goals for this week (7/20-7/24) include:

• Main Menu texture
• Proper interactions for main menu
• Main Title Music
• Background music

Depending on time constraints background music may be moved to a different week and something more important be moved up, such as a raycast weapon. Tune in next Friday for the next in-progress game build, and next Sunday for the second installment of the Dev Blog.
