Developer Update: Monday, March 16th - Whats already done, whats in development, and what is planned

Hello all!

From this point onward, I will be making a devlog every Monday to keep those of you who are following SMASHBOB updated on the progress of the game. This one will be alot of text, as most of the major changes I have made since 1.0.2 are under the hood.

To start off with some technical under the hood stuff, the way dying is handled has been completely reworked. The entire room used to completely reload every time you died, and while that worked fine for smaller levels, levels with hundreds of objects would freeze up every time you re-spawned. Now, ive made spawners for everything to can be destroyed or moved, making load times when you die non-existent. This also opens up the possibility of new features, like a countdown the first time the level starts, and a marker to show each place you died as you play. Both of these will be part of 1.1.0.

Now that ive covered the boring nerd stuff, on to the fun bits! Weve added a new obstacle, a block that cannot be touched. A common criticism ive gotten is there is no reason to use the left click and not just smash through the levels. Well, now there is! We are also fixing a bug which causes the laser grids to be harmless.

The next update will feature roughly 10-15 new levels, doubling the length of the game. To help with that, we have added a save and load feature!

Holy %$@#, im surprised you made it this far! Thank you for reading, and look forward to more details next week!

Back in my art school days I used to ride the 710 COPSA line from Parque Del Plata to Montevideo almost everyday. This is the Marcopolo Viaggio G4 Mercedes Benz model from the late 80s, one of the older bus models that was running on the line.

It nicely separates the snowy biome from the grassy one.

Today I tackled drawing different variations of facial expressions for one of the main characters in Eden. What do you think of it? :) Eden: https://gamejolt.com/games/Eden/592698

I mostly build 3D First Person Shooter game mechanics in Unity, and in this I'm just showing C4 mechanics I made for a little side project I am working on! :)
