Hey guys.
So as I'm making more and more progress on the game I've been thinking about one of the most important aspect (well they're all important but this one just as equally important) to the game. And that is music and sound effects.
As I stressed in probably my earlier posts and in the game description, I'm looking for 16 bit music and sounds, to help boost the nostalgic feeling for the game. While I finishing up Draco's last finishing touches, (animations and code), I've been looking for music.
Results...well I did find some really cool ones from playonloop.com but those tracks are REALLY expensive, plus if someone where to upload any gameplay on YouTube, they would get hit with a lot of copyright strikes, so that's a no-no. I also stumbled upon a really cool collection of SNES style soundtracks, on itch.io, but I'm not sure if they're the right fit for the game.
I knew this was gonna be toughest part for me for the game: The finding the right feel for the game's soundtrack. Like, do I want a more cartoony feel, because of the graphics, or a more energetic feel, like with Sonic's soundtracks, or a more upbeat feel, like with Mario and Kirby. Maybe I wanna a more action feel, to show that the game can be serious sometimes. Yeah, I'm still thinking about that.
Anyways, since I can't really talk to people and I prefer to work solo, I have to rely on royalty free soundtracks, that are safe to use. Here's hoping I'll have an idea for what kinda of 16 bit soundtrack I want, and I'll find the right fit for it.
And that's it for this update...see you.
