Hello everyone, this is the first devlog of the new game CaveVox. At the time of publishing this article, it's around the 12th day of development. So, what kind of game will it be?
CaveVox is a voxel-based game set in the world of Kingso, or more precisely, in the dungeons of that world. The dungeon is divided into levels - level 0 is the topmost and will host merchants and other useful characters. It's a safe zone. Levels 1 through 5, for example, will be labyrinths of the dungeon.
As you descend deeper, you'll not only encounter monsters of various levels but also traps and the dungeon itself in its raw form. This means there will be plenty of mysteries and interesting elements around. Most importantly, everything happens in a one-life mode. The game aims to be far more intense and immersive than a typical voxel sandbox clone.
The chunk system has already been implemented and optimized to a very solid state, though some issues still remain.
An item system has also been created - this includes objects like candlesticks, tables, and so on, all in voxel style. Development is also underway on a level editor, similar to the one shown here. This will allow for the creation of various dungeon part combinations for generation. In general, the dungeon layouts will be the same for all players, except for the structure itself.
Combat mechanics and dungeon monsters are planned to be developed soon, along with a progression system - without class selection. There will also be item discovery elements and possibly level bosses.

A demo version can be expected once the game reaches a somewhat playable state.
Thank you for reading this Devlog!
