So the Gameplay Prototype is finished.
What’s in it?
Menu
First, i’ve added a simple menu. It’s obviously not final, as is all graphics shown. It has a pathway to the test room, the destruction gamemode, and the battle gamemode.
Destruction mode
Second, I’ve added the first (and probably main) gamemode, destruction.
As shown above, you have a limited time to destroy a certain amount of the area. (The gif is mid level due to the length of the full gameplay severely ruining the quality)
Battle mode
To be honest, designing this was a lot harder than designing destruction mode. Destruction mode was simple, what else would work other than time limit based destruction.
As shown, it is similar to destructrion mode as you have a limited time to destroy a certain amount of enemys.
The problem with designing it was how I wanted it to play like. At first, I made it slow, giving it the feel of being an unstopabble killing machine. Lot’s of health, but slow speed, very tanky.
I tested it, and it wasn’t fun. When I tried to change the speed, it started to feel like hotline miami, admittedly it was more fun, but it wasn’t what I wanted. So I tampered a bit and reached what I wanted.
It sucked
I found that hotline miami with destructible terrain was more fun. The extra health helped me find a middle ground, so you still get some feel of being a giant robot.
Well that’s everything I’ve added.
