Devlog #6


Good morning to all!!!

it's been a while since the last devlog, and it was time to do one. a lot of things have happened since the last devlog and I'll tell you about them below. but first I'd like to say something small:

"please take a closer look at the site, I've seen people asking about things I've clarified in several devlogs or mini devlogs, some of them have even been updated!. it's not a bad idea to take a closer look at the site" (This goes for clueless people and youtubers who report fangame progress).

Without more to say I will show you some changes and things about the game:


Engine Change:

This engine change was carried out a few weeks ago on an experimental basis, as we have had some problems with the main engine of the game "Clickteam Fusion 2.5" due to memory problems. For this reason we have decided to move to the engine "Unreal Engine 4", this decision was taken as the only current programmer of the game has some knowledge. We have tried to do everything with a good optimization so many players with clickteam game specs can play purgatorium. although if we can not meet the desired optimization, we will try to move the game back to clickteam and try to optimize it as well as possible to include all the planned content. or I will try to find alternatives like Gamemaker (although it is difficult for me because I do not know programmers). it should be noted that the game will not be 3D, it will still be rendered pre rendered to get a good optimization in unreal.

Game Progress:

I must happily say that the game has finally finished the modeling section, now the team will be focusing on programming, rendering, animation and finalizing the cutscenes. this is something very important because for a long time we have been stuck in that section. next I will show you some parts of the game that we finished in modeling.

Along with this we have made some small updates to a few things!

Cakebear's Map:

This one received a big update from the first version. this is due to the exaggerated amount of polygon that the map itself had, giving a more decorated and beautiful map, but at the same time immersive when it is dark. attached some screenshots.

Purgatory Map:

The purgatory map underwent the same changes but in a massive way, it received an update in the lights and mapping, giving it a more realistic look and feel.

Model retexturing:

we have started with some retexturing of characters in order to make them more faithful to the design made for them. here are some examples of some of them
