Hi all, welcome to our second devlog! A LOT has changed since our last one, so prepare yourself for some Pan-tastic news! (I'm sorry, I had to ;D)
First of all, thank you all for 2K views on Gamejolt! We're so, so grateful for all of your support, really :] and I'm not only speaking for myself when I say that, but also for my team members. So again, from the bottom of our hearts: thank you!
Team changes
As you may have noticed, @Marozixx isn't posting this devlog, but I am! As a matter of fact, I joined the team around the end of April as a programmer, and I've had a blast working on the game so far :)
Gamemaker is still fairly new to me as I only started learning it in April, but I've already learned a lot and I'm continuing to learn and improve my skills.
I’m not the only new team member: say hi to @fwoompy /@L8TAT8W8 and @Polin01 ! They both joined as sprite artists, and we’re thrilled to have them :D
Art
Progress on art front has been going well so far, with @Marozixx mainly focusing on the rooms in the Ruins and @fwoompy /@L8TAT8W8 and @Polin01 mainly working on enemy sprites for the random encounters. There's still a lot of work to be done, but we're on the right track :D
Music
Music-wise, not much has changed since the last devlog. @Hotcream has done an amazing job composing the OST for the Ruins, which is more than enough for now. If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking out the OST both on here and on @Hotcream 's YouTube channel, they're all bops!
Programming
I've currently finished the battle system, which we'll use for the random encounters and which'll be the base we work off for the boss battles. I managed to complete it in decent time, though I would have liked to finish it earlier. Feature creep and college have taken their toll, and as I mentioned, I’m still learning Gamemaker. That being said, because I keep learning new things about Gamemaker every day, progress on the game should be going a bit faster (in theory, that is ).
I'll be starting work on the actual game now, as I've developed the battle system in a separate Gamemaker project in order to be able to better test it; I’ll transfer the battle system to the main game project soon. Oof, it feels good finally having finished such an important mechanic
Of course, you guys will be the first ones to know when something new comes up :D
In any case, I've included a video with this devlog so you guys can see what we've got so far. Keep in mind that the attacks and designs are NOT final and are subject to change.
Summary
Progress on the game has been going great so far, and we've got more than enough stuff ready to keep working on the game. We can't promise any dates yet as it's too early for that, but rest assured, when something changes we will update you guys :)
That was all for today then, so I hope you guys enjoyed this little devlog :) If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to leave a comment either on this post or on the main page of the game. Take care and see you all next time!
P.S.: some of the eagle-eyed viewers among you may have spotted the "Throwables" option in the Fight menu; we can't tell you as to what that exactly entails yet, but don't panic, we'll tell you when the time comes!
