Time for another development update!
This week we made a new enemy! We call it the Bowel Bug. This not so little guy tends to mind it’s own business and can crawl up walls and even upside down! Just don’t touch it as it may cause extreme pain or even death.
The Bowel Bug was tedious to make and we ran into multiple problems regarding wall detection, or lack thereof. As well as some animation issues trying to make transitions as smooth as possible. It took about three days to get right and could probably still use a bit of tweaking but at least the main functionality is there.

The game now has working moving platforms as well as jump through platforms! Of course none of this could have been a simple task as when it comes to game development nothing is allowed to be simple. This took a few days to get right. Of course just as we thought it was done we found multiple issues which took a couple hours to set right and we are still yet to re-implement some of the less functional features of the moving platforms. This should be done within the coming week though.
We also allowed for bigger level select maps by enabling the view to scroll and follow the pointer as it goes from level to level. Cool yeah? We sure thought so. That is until this cool feature caused things to break, which lead to about 5-6 hours’ worth of debugging and trying to fix things.
Finally, we got featured right here on GameJolt! A huge shutout to GameJolt and also everyone who took an interest and are now following the games progress! We look forward to providing you with more posts like this and eventually, a complete game!
