EMCN 2: Progress Update 14 + Post-Demo Reflection


Hey hey hey!

It's been about a week since the demo released. Reception so far seems positive I think. It could be people lying to me, but who would do that?

I would like to apologize again for pulling the demo shortly after release for a few hours. I neglected a huge part of the game until release that I never bothered playtesting it for any bugs or issues. I do think the current state that the game is in right now is much better. The glitches were resolved and I even fixed a few other ones, too.

I'm not really that proud of what EMCN 2 has came out as right now. I do think the game can be so much better compared to the other fnaf-slop going around, but the demo currently doesn't reflect what I want out of this game. I want to learn to animate just so I can make some parts more alive and almost like I took time to make it pretty instead of pushing it so soon. With how often fnaf games are releasing now, I need to stand out as much as possible, or else I will be left behind with the rest of them. This game isn't supposed to be a cheap way of getting on the Max Mode List. This game isn't meant to be what everyone else wants to do. This game is my passion and my true and utter love for the franchise. When the full game comes out, I want it to feel fresh. I want people to look at this game not with grimace or hatred, but with joy. And if that means going through every piece of this game making sure it all looks polished and nice? Then I will make sure of it.

Sorry for the rant, let's get back on track.

I've continued progress on adding characters into the game. The next one is Old Candy. Old Candy's mechanic is re-using an idea in the Remastered version of the extras menu which is the slider. The slider was shown in the Comparisons section of the Remastered menu and was used to compare the old between the new. Despite the original game not having any comparisons, I thought it would be nice to at least acknowledge the Remastered menu.

Therefore, Old Candy's mechanic will be the slider. It'll slowly slide to the left, which will make the Remastered Old Candy design more and more visible. It's going to raise Panic, probably when it reaches half? I'm not sure exactly. It feels too unfair to make Panic rise immediately since it's going to be non-stop. I believe that's all for this character.

In terms of the Candy cast, I have ideas for all but Cindy. I know she's going to be in the Dev, Sketches section, but I'm not sure what her mechanic is going to be. I want it to be drawing related, though I'll have to learn how to draw in Clickteam.

The rest of the characters are kind of in the same spot as before the demo where I have ideas for what they're going to do but not anything specific. The Wario's menu is especially rough. There's plenty of sections to use but no ideas for any.
