Sorry for not posting anything in so long. Quite conveniently lost motivation right as the demo is almost complete... I unlisted this game for a few weeks because it was sort of in a state of limbo where I didn't want to work on it anymore but I also didn't want to cancel the game. Hopefully, I can gain some motivation back if I just keep working on it. Doesn't seem like this game lost any followers, so thank you for staying.
Thankfully, only one character is left unfinished for the demo. I worked hard until I lost motivation and got a bunch of characters finished. Inserted above is one of them, being Blank!
Blank will create ASCII art and put them in the Memory, which will clog it up. You must get rid of the art to stop your PC from crashing due to the lack of memory. It's a simple mechanic, but it took forever for me to think of...
I also complete all three characters for Jolly's menu, being Jolly, Tweetie and Metalionette. Similar to Blank, their mechanics were quite last second. They seem to work well, though, so no need to worry on them not working or anything.
Mac Tonight is also going to get a slight nerf. The original idea for his mechanic made it so you had to memorize the pattern of his song and recreate it. When doing testing with the characters currently finished, I realized how hard that actually was. With everyone on 20, it felt almost impossible to know what keys he hit and recreate it with everything else that was happening. So, I added a visual indicator for what keys were hit! I hope that is enough to make Mac Tonight a tolerable character. I feared he would be a huge annoyance in the full game.
That's about all. The final character before the demo is finished has a tedious mechanic to implement, but I'm hoping to get it done soon. After that, I'll need to add a win screen, presets and a few other small things before I can call the demo complete. I'm hoping they won't take as long as needed, just long, tedious work. I really hope you guys enjoy the demo and stay longer for the full release. EMCN 2 was in development for too long for a custom night game. Thankfully, we may have to wait not much longer.
