EMCN 2: Progress Update 7


Hey, hi, hey!

Hope everyone had a good holidays and new years! EMCN 2 has made progress, but probably not as much as 1 month of absence would expect. That doesn't mean nothing has been done! I got two mechanics fully finished and ready to go minus some small tweaks to add here and there as well as the Gamejolt page being basically finished. I wanna add a bit more to it and make the description a bit nicer, so maybe the next progress update will have the link to the page.

The two mechanics I added were for Rat in the Candy's menu and Mac Tonight from the Mac Tonight menu:

I showed an image of what Rat's mechanic would look like in the very first progress update for EMCN 2, but that was only just a rough outline of what it was going to look like. It had no functionality to it. Well, that changed! Rat will change the background music on the cassette tape randomly. This will make the cassette upset and raise the Panic. Simply changing the music back by clicking on the arrows on the cassette will be enough. There will be four of the "wrong" songs, each being what I consider to be bad but funny music. The only issue is that the songs don't continue where they leave off, instead restarting. That sucks since if Rat is at maximum AI, no song would go passed probably 30 seconds and it would be very repetitive and annoying. Besides that, he's good to go!

The other mechanic is Mac Tonight, who's mechanic is probably my personal favorite so far. It's a memory game that'll increasingly get difficult the more active he becomes. He has a piano that he will play notes on and you have to do the same. The video attached is what it looks like in game! It's super fun and I'm proud with how it turned out. The one issue with him is that he doesn't actually add onto the notes. When he becomes active again, he picks totally different notes. I should fix that since it's bad design to change the pattern like that despite it being a memory game. I don't plan on adding a "hard mode" like the other custom night fangames but if I decided to do one, that'll definitely be his hard mode mechanic. Oh yea, and he kills if you enter the wrong note or don't do it in time. No Panic this time.

I've also done some new assets for a part of the game that maaayyyyyyyy cause some indifference. It may make the game too confusing and complicated. Hopefully it won't but I'm willing to scrap it if it's not liked.

There's also going to be one more crucial mechanic for EMCN 2 that I'll keep hidden for now. It'll probably have its own progress update because of how the mechanic is. It's basically going to be the new End Night condition that replaces the minigames from the original EMCN (thank god). The EMCN games didn't seem like the kind of games to have a 12 - 6 time mechanic like almost every other FNaF fangame. I also know the minigames sucked for EMCN and I don't want to make minigames again because they SUCKED!!!! AND I HATE THEM!!!!!!!!
