Hello! Happy holidays to everyone.
I decided to post this little blogpost to tell about what's been happening and what's going to happen with Rayman Redemption.
First of all, consider following me on Twitter if you haven't already. I post even more sneak peeks and stuff about the game over there:
I released the last video (Welcome to Candy Château) on 14.9. That was three months ago.
Even though there's still a lot left to do content-wise, I decided to go through every level so far and fix everything that had broken or changed.
I also did the most time consuming thing and remade all of the animations so they wouldn't take as much texturespace.
Both of those things are now done though, so I can finally work on other things.
So, what's left to do?
Well, the bonus content: Each world will have 3 bonus levels, one in each category: Race against the clock, Electoon hunt, and Obstacle course.
The first one is pretty self explanatory, you could even play two races in the demo. Electoon hunt is a small area where you need to locate and collect
all of the Electoons. Obstacle course is a pretty tough challenge, which utilizes that world's special power (Magic seed in Jungle, Super helicopter in Mountains, etc...).
The obstacle course also doesn't have a timer that goes down.
(Also, I added the requested "best time" for each minigame to be seen in the bonus shop.)
At the time of writing this, I've made 10 of the 21 bonus levels that need to be done. These won't take much time to finish though, I'm currently just focusing on something else, which is detailed below.
Right now I'm working on finishing the "main story". Did you really think it would be over after Candy Château?
I won't tell what it is, though, I want to keep some of my secrets. Good thing is that I should be done with this part before the end of 2019.
After that, well, more secrets...! I can still give you a slight hint: There will be a bonus world, based on something that exists in the Rayman franchise, which is supposed to be the ultimate challenge.
This "ultimate challenge" will test the skills of even the most hardcore Rayman players.
I also need to finish all the shops. This is pretty easy to do though.
In addition to the bonus level shop (It's not technically a shop, since you don't buy anything), there will be:
-Normal shop, where you can buy skins and some helping items.
-The Casino, where you can gamble for some exclusive stuff. (No real-life money involved, of course!)
-Joe's Wares, where you can buy some "key items" of sorts.
Then there's the achievements. If anyone here has played the DSi version of R1, they might know that it had those.
Most of them were just for completing specific levels and worlds though, and that's pretty boring, right? I want to make some interesting ones for Redemption.
Something to give the player an extra challenge if they so choose. For example, complete a specific level without touching any tings, or without killing any enemies.
All in all, there's still a lot to do, which brings us to the next point: A possible release date?
Well, no. I did tease that the game would come out in 2020, because I'm confident I can get all this stuff done in time.
This also means that the game could come out in december of 2020, so don't keep your hopes up too much.
I still really want to get this game out next year, so IF things don't go according to plan, I'll just release the game in an "early access" state of sorts, and add all the missing stuff in an update.
The main takeaway here is that the main content, the meat and potates of the game is something like 95% done. Everything else is just extra I want to do.
You could already play the game completely at it's current state, but Mr. Dark could... oh wait, I can't tell about that yet.
Anyway, I'm super grateful for all the support from everyone. It honestly means a lot to me.
Stay tuned.
