Everything I've done in the past week


This past week I started working on Wequer again, so I thought I’d go over all of the cool stuff I did in the past week.

  • Buttons give feedback when you hover over them (if they can be pressed)

  • New board background and resource sprites

  • Redesigned and re-balanced the worm character and their wormlings

  • Updated the worm’s interface

  • Updated and re-balanced 4 of the wizard’s spells

  • The wizard shop now shows the names of the spells without having to hover over them

  • Fixed the tutorial and arena mode (which broke with the tons of changes made to the main game mode)

  • Reformatted text boxes so they won’t cover up interfaces anymore

  • Other various quality of life improvements

It's the beginning of a new month which means it's time to push myself to finish this game! Don't expect a complete release any time soon, but do expect me to post about it more often!

I'm currently making a Tetris + Mahjong hybrid game called #Nojong. Match colored blocks in the field to make clears. After a number of clears, the blocks left in your hand are scored, so you want to try and keep triples and quadruples in your hand.

Wonder if anyone can guess what kinda game I'm working on right now with this GameJolt session data as the only clue. I bet someone can sleuth it out!

Did a lot of work cleaning up and commenting old uncommented code today and yesterday. Should make things that much easier in the future! Also enjoy this screenshot of the end of a game (I lost to myself)

For some reason, it's really hard to change the alpha value of a tile layer in GameMaker. You can do this easily for sprite or instance layers, but not tile layers. So here's a video on how to easily update the alpha value of tile layers in real time.
