Fail States

Optional "getting caught" segment from the new game and some older ones as well.

When I was first working on these games I wasn't sure if they should have cartoonish death sequences a la Laura Bow or something. I think what decided me against it was feeling that it'd kind of kill the mood to just die and respawn, that it'd be funnier to just be pulled unexpectedly into some other situation instead, even if you still functionally ended up having to repeat a bit. Also, drawing dozens of variations of poor BB being brutally dismembered sounded like a rough way to spend my evenings.

In the first gif you can see two of the six(!) different murderers who are causing trouble in the new game. These days Silent Hill has a monopoly on evil medical figures but spare a thought also for Catherine from Gregory Horror Show, the nighttime doctor from Chulip, and those guys with the buzzsaws who yelled "blooood!!" at you in Shadow Man. A long and noble history of enthusiastic weirdos with very questionable understandings of accurate medical practice.

Regards...
