FIRST WORD :
Welcome! ;)
A few days ago I celebrated my birthday, and I thought, "Why not do the same for Marzenie?"...
Yep, it’s officially been a year since the project started (Development of the game started a few weeks ago)!
I had a lot of time to develop the story and I can tell you that I’m satisfied with the result! :)

TEAM :
Rebloo - Showrunner: Programming, Music, Art, Story, Concept Art
Olixium - Co-founder: Concept Art, Story
Fonsdere: Art
WHAT IS MARZENIE :
The sequel to Undertale...
A project Toby Fox hasn’t had the chance to explore yet...
A game that tells a heartfelt story, full of mysteries around every corner and genuinely funny dialogue...
Let me introduce: “DELTARUNE 2”! Or Marzenie, or Marzenie Project, or another title you might like!
The game follows two perspectives: an abstract world and a real one. I plan to structure the game into 6 layers (or ‘strates,’ as I call them in French.). Marzenie is set in France. That’s all I can reveal for now...

Let’s just say that at this point, I prefer not to spoil too much, it’d be a shame to ruin the surprise. :)
RPG VIEW :
Right now, the project is still in the prototype stage. I’m working on core features like walking, dialogue, and inventory systems. Once that’s done, I’ll finally be able to start making something more meaningful.

As shown above, I’ve been experimenting with a unique style using digital drawings, but it makes coding more complicated due to the rather abstract dimensions.
(I often work on games where the tiles are smaller than 32x32px) but "no problem dude", the design caught my eye and I think it adds charm to the game.

Here are our 4 protagonists, I finally drew their directions.

And finally... the dialogue system! :)
I can slow down/speed up rhythm, change color, move the dialogue to the next line, skip...
(font is not completed, like, i didn't add the numbers lmao)
All that’s missing is the inventory, I’d say a first prototype will be ready in 2 or 3 weeks at most (you know my speed...)
BATTLE SYSTEM :
The most interesting part :) I handled the concept art and Fonsdere did the illustrations (big love to U dude!)
For the creation of the battle system, I mixed in combat mechanics from 3 games: Deltarune, Mario & Luigi and Crypt of the NecroDancer.
Concept Art : Battle

It’s a Real-Time Combat system based on rhythm attacks, you control two characters who can move in 5 directions, but be careful not to abuse movement (controlled by the bar on the left) because that will prevent you from moving for 1 turn (aka Mario & Luigi where you could move both characters simultaneously without sanctions lmao)
Icons :

Once again, I was heavily inspired by the Mario & Luigi saga (Fonsdere did an amazing job on the icons, it would be a shame to waste all that time by resize them... wait! Hold on a mi—)
Background :

It’s a direct inspiration from Earthbound, here, it’s just the sense of motion, now imagine adding geometric shapes, mixing with different layers of different colors... it offers a wide range of possibilities. :)
Characters :

here is an animation during battle when you choose an appropriate action.
Who is this character stroking their chin and who seems to appear a third time in this devlog ? You know what... Guess his name and backstory, it could be fun to see your theories on the Discord.
SOUNDTRACK :
Yep, I plan to handle the game’s music and know what ? : I started taking piano lessons. :)
I started a few months ago, I’ve already posted one OST on the channel, don’t hesitate to check out the channel “Marzenie-x3y” or in Game Soundtrack section.
LAST WORD ? …
Well... we’re still just a small team, but I hope the community will only grow and that we’ll be able to offer a demo by the end of 2025. Of course, don’t expect miracles—when the team is ready, I’ll make an announcement on the Discord server.
Until then, I wish you a good evening!
