The Enchanted Menagerie is a popular theme park and zoo that features exotic animals like zebras, raccoons, and koalas, paired with beloved characters from adaptations of classic fairy tales.
Nagaz is one of these iconic characters, originating from one of the company's earliest productions, The Demon's wager.
The Story The Demon's wager.
Long ago, two of the Devil's best demons quarreled over who had the best strategy for collecting souls. Nommam proposed a wager to see who could convince the other that their method was best. Nagaz set the terms: the loser would be cast out of Hell forever.
Thus, the two demons embarked on their journey, They found a small town placed at the foot of a towering mountain, the place where they would begin, they found a young man in his humble home.
Nommam appeared first, offering riches, fame, eternal life, and the love of his dreams.
Yet, the young man was of good character and remained untempted. He replied, 'No, I will not sell my soul to you.'
Nagaz laughed, mocking Nommam’s failed attempt. 'pitiful display, is this how you collect souls?' he sneered. 'By offering them with promises and trinkets? Let me show you how it's done.'
Nommam’s voice darkened. 'Young man,' he intoned, 'I shall unleash horrors upon your family unimaginable suffering. I will force your mother to consume your father, tear them apart, piece by piece, so they know Hell's agony. Yet I am not without mercy. I’ll make you an offer, if you sell your soul to me, and I will spare them.'
But the young man was of good character and remained untempted, though the price weighed heavily on his heart. He replied With a trembling voice, 'No, I will not sell my soul to you.'
Nagaz sighed and set about his grim task, he began to bring the promised pain and death upon the young man’s family. Now it's Nommam's turn to laugh. 'All that effort, and you still have nothing to show for it. Great strategy.'
Because the young man was of good character and remained untempted, he would be reunited with his family in the heavenly realms, while the two demons would continue their wager, ever scheming and competing, as ages passed.
