Hello, everyone. Hope you're all doing splendidly.
Nearly two years ago, I first met Fran after he petitioned I help him out with his Plenty's Gamejam entry, titled "Silent Watch". What transpired afterwards was a week of effort and insomnia, as we stayed up all night joking around and working on the gamejam entry as we laughed at our attempts and our stories. Its through this single week that I met one of my best online friends, and its a week which I will never forget. After Silent Watch was completed, Fran asked me if I wanted to help him write Reconstructed, to which I obliged. What transpired was one of the best development cycles i've ever been a part of - which was never meant to be.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2: Reconstructed (and Paradise Lost) was officially cancelled yesterday. After a thorough discussion which we held through a voice call, me and Fran decided it was for the best to shut down the game and its development for a multitude of reasons, which i will list below.
The project was too big for our own good. Reconstructed (which then came to be known as Paradise Lost) grew in scale as the months went by, and we realized that we were biting off more than we could really chew. Although we both had experience in the filmmaking space, we frankly had absolutely no idea how to make videogames. We were rookies handling a project that felt too big for this community as our ambitions grew. Its key to note that ambition is not necessarily a bad thing - rather, it should be encouraged rather than discouraged. Do you guys think we would have gotten to the moon had we not been ambitious enough to think about that? No. Never. Ambition is great, but you need to have a plan to move forward, the experience to work with that ambition - and we did not have that. We were inexperienced and unprofessional, we made a lot of mistakes and we screw up multiple times in the process. Thus came thy results.
2025 was a very bad year for the both of us. Without getting into a lot of detail of our personal lives, 2025 was a really bad year for both Fran and I. Fran, for one, took a large step back from discord, entering constant periods of hiatus due to the gravitas of his situations. I didn't. I drowned myself in my work because I found a sense of comfort in my work, but now I realized I grew a dependency on my work to feel some semblance of comfort from everything, and that's a bad thing. We both needed our time off and we both needed our space.
The FNaF community sucks. We were both looking for any potential excuse to leave the FNaF community as soon as we could. The FNaF community is filled with men-children and crybabies that feel like an absolute waste of time for the most part, and we were both sick of it. We both wanted to grow distant from the FNaF community because of our general disliking of it, and we swore to leave it once Paradise Lost was complete. Now that Paradise Lost is no more, this is our excuse to take our leave and depart and, honestly, we suggest you do too. This community is incredibly toxic and doesn't really do any favors to your own mental and emotional health, so its best to leave the community, and FNaF, behind.
WHAT WAS PARADISE LOST?
This is the section you guys were probably waiting for, as I expect at least 60% of you guys to be reading this just to see our work and see what you can plagiarize for your own fangame project.
"Paradise Lost" was a multimedia Alternate Universe project inspired by the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise created by Scott Cawthon, providing a fresh, new and cinematic take on the already established lore, taking inspiration from several filmmakers (David Fincher, Matt Reeves, Martin Scorsese, Stanley Kubrick) and their filmography to capture FNaF in brand new lenses, in this new, terrifying and supernatural continuity. Our intention was for Paradise Lost's story to span throughout the course of three games - Five Nights at Freddy's: Silent Night (directed by @moarlol
), Five Nights at Freddy's 2: Reconstructed (directed by @AverageFranDev
) and Five Nights at Freddy's 3: Sleep No More (directed by @RadioOfficial
).
This idea was conceived shortly after I wrote the script for Reconstructed. Fran and I were eager to make something that could be more than just a "remake" and create something that would change the fangame space forever. We wanted to create something which could show fangame devs what storytelling really was, to create a new and helpful blueprint for future developers and to create the definitive version of the Five Nights at Freddy's continuity.
Below, I will show you guys everything that was made for all three entries, along with an entire section dedicated to scripts and storytelling bits.

FINAL DISCLAIMERS
In the event anyone is interested in somehow bringing this juggernaut of a project back to life, I have one piece of advice for you all... don't. Don't bring it back as a videogame, at least. The storyline of Paradise Lost would not have been done justice in videogame form, so my recommendation is that, if somehow you're interested in reviving the project, I suggest bringing it back as a film or show, not a videogame.
If you're interested in diving deep into the documents and characters of Paradise Lost, its my suggestion you proceed with caution - the storyline contains multiple heavy themes that aren't particularly common in a FNaF fangame and may result as triggering to some. We've tried our best to juggle these themes respectfully and there are multiple TWs in the documents already, but take this as yet another warning.
If you guys have any questions regarding Paradise Lost, its development, gameplay, story, etc. Feel free to ask! Nothing is off the table.
So...what's next?
Well, i'll tell you what we, the heads of the project, have in store in the future. FuntimeHelpi, a very frequent contributor and administrator of Paradise Lost, is currently working on his own Five Nights at Freddy's fangame titled Celebration at Freddy's, which you guys should be sure to check out. THK205, another administrator of Paradise Lost, is currently working on his Walten Files fan project, titled Welcome to Bon's Burgers: Together Forever, co-directed by yours truly. Moar, the director of Silent Night, is currently wrapping up his own FNaF Fangame, Franklin's Crib, which just so happens to be one of my most anticipated FNaF Fangames to date.
Fran, on one hand, has started his own indie label, Daisy Pusher Records! He's also been hard at work with his band, as I hear he's really getting into musicmaking, which is bound to be an excellent career for our friend. As for me? I'm still working on my independent horror series, Whisker's Initiative, but, beyond that? I don't know. Time will tell. Hopefully we'll both get better in the coming year.
In the coming years, i'll likely look back at Paradise Lost with a sense of bittersweetness. However, its important to always keep a piece of that sweetness buried in your brain without fully indulging in these memories. This way, we won't feel the necessity to go back to "what once was", but we'd look back at everything with a sense of joy, a sense of happiness... because we lived.
As Theodor Seuss once said, "don't cry because its over, smile because it happened."
