FlatFormer Engine - J2ME Remaster; A very tiny side-project i made for fun

(It's 1st of June today! Happy pride month! 🏳️‍🌈)

So...It turns out i kinda overestimated how hard JavaME development actually is, and not even a week later after the post i've made saying that i was in an J2ME mood, i had already just made an entire platformer game that can comfortably run on button phones

The game was tested on these devices :

  • Nokia 2690 - Surprisingly smooth, although the screen is pretty tiny

  • Samsung Vodafone 360 M1 - Game speed is seemingly capped at 30 FPS (Possibly to not have the battery drain as much? Either way the CPU is 3x stronger than the Nokia, who was already at full speed, so it can't be lag...)

Super happy with how this turned out, and decided i should share this jar file with everyone!

The builds are uploaded right now on the game page (Note : You will need a device/emulator that supports J2ME Jar Files in order to actually play these)

Animated Furr Test; I've learnt how to make Tween Animations! :D

50 FPS animation for the time being, i might start using 60 FPS shortly

Quick Eevee Doodle i made

New PFP as of today

FlatFormer Engine v4.0 Android Port has been released!

Yet another animation test (60 FPS)

Once again, testing the waters, getting pretty used to it!

It is #spawnday for me today as of writing this!

Since this is a bit of a special day for this account, i've decided to also make post an "Ask me anything"! If you had ever wanted to know something new about me, now's your chance!

Fun fact : Originally, i wanted to include this icon in the description and/or thumbnails on my games as a way to tell everyone that the game was "Potato PC Compatible"

Decided to get a little bold with the fox character i keep drawing

Probably the first time i've drawn him like this

This has got to be the longest line of code i might have ever written in my entire life (the entire thing doesn't fit in the IDE i had to paste it into notepad)

I seem to be in a bit of a J2ME mood today

I wonder how many people still own one of these to this day, depending on if the version of Java on this plays nice with me or not, i might try to code an app for this thing for fun
