Hanzō Hirohashi (広橋半蔵) is a major character in MetaMobius. He is a Normal-type MetaMobian Shiba Inu who possesses Video powers. Frequently bullied at school and with no real control over his life, Hanzō retreated into one of his favorite computer games, Computer Monsters (or just “Compumon” for short), which is essentially this universe’s equivalent to Pokémon; in that game, he can travel across the world, catching and training various Pokémon-like creatures (which are obviously called “Compumon”), thus becoming the very best like no one ever was! But in the real world? Well, let’s just say there’s no such thing as a “Compumon Master”. For the longest time, he tried his best to ignore the bullies… that is, until one day, they pushed him way too far, activating his Video powers for the first time and accidentally unleashing a giant monster that attacked everyone around him. After the incident, NeoTech Industries came to his house, promising his parents that he would be taken to a new school… designed for people like him… different. For a few years, they kept him locked away on NeoTech Island, where they took advantage of his powers to create holographic foes to teach their MetaMobian inmates how to fight (or more accurately, to kill) while taking steps to prevent Hanzō’s digital constructs from saving him. And then, there came a day when many MetaMobians escaped the facility in an explosion that sent them outside; Hanzō Hirohashi was one of them, summoning a dragon-like construct to cross the water towards Sōkyō. Finally, that was his chance to truly disappear so no one could find him or hurt him ever again. But this was no time to celebrate his newfound freedom. Lately, he saw the Neo Troopers rounding up people identified as “Bio-Monsters” and thought about what they’re gonna do to them. It was then that he decided to make a pest out of himself by manufacturing various Compumon constructs to fight back against them and save all of those suspected MetaMobians in the process, while freeing them from their restraints, thus releasing them back into the city as “normal” people. His battle against NeoTech, of course, caught the attention of Spider-Wolf, whom he observed as he too fought against the Neo Troopers in the city. Eventually, Hanzō became a fan of his, making contact with Spider-Wolf and helping him locate convoys full of people NeoTech identified as MetaMobians; of course, it wouldn't take long for him to stumble upon a rather bizarre scene of Compumon not only fighting the Neo Troopers, but also saving the suspected MetaMobians. Along the way, he would also encounter gangs of street thugs harassing the suspected MetaMobians. Poor guys… Ultimately, Spider-Wolf was able to track him back to his hideout and defeat him in battle. Upon realizing that Hanzō was only saving innocent people, Spider-Wolf is faced with another Karmic Moment: Courage or Contempt?
😇Courage: Spider-Wolf would redeem Hanzō Hirohashi; they would subsequently team up to rescue all of NeoTech's former prisoners from the street gangs that have been rounding them up to sell them back to the NeoTech Industries, which would both make Hanzō's life take a positive turn and teach him more about being a hero. And thus, he would become Captain Video (キャプテンビデオ).
👿Contempt: Spider-Wolf would corrupt Hanzō Hirohashi; they go on to find the gangs that were attacking the MetaMobians and make sure they would learn to respect them, even if it kills them. Hanzō progressively becomes bolder as he and Spider-Wolf go on, eventually declaring that Sōkyō belongs to MetaMobians and that they shall show their enemies no mercy. Soon after, he would be the villain, Digital Death (デジタルデス).
