Game
Undertale: Disbelief

Hello again. It's been a while, hasn't it?

It's crazy to believe that Undertale is 9 years old now.
And pretty soon, the Phase 2 demo of Disbelief will be 4 years old...

I know it's been really quiet, and I know a lot of people are still wondering where this game is...

"It's been 7 years!! And the game isn't even halfway finished?! It's not even that big of a game!!!"

I understand this, and to be honest, there isn't really a lot to excuse this. I'm not gonna bore any of you guys with my life story, either.

To put it simply: this game has been through a lot.

Many ideas, complicated or unclear roadmaps, complete rewrites, etc.

A lot of the troubles have to do with the fact that this game will not just be a 1:1 recreation of the original animation. Sure, a lot of the main fight that you guys are familiar with will remain roughly the same, but there is a good chunk of content outside of that which needs to be considered, and most importantly taking into account how everything will connect.

Recently, I have settled on something that I am really happy with, and have taken upon myself to run Flames through everything to see if he feels the same way about it (and to make revisions where it is necessary).

There is a good bit of content planned for this game, and honestly, I just want the next release to be Disbelief in all its glory. No more waiting another decade for the next update to release. No more extremely long periods of complete silence.

There is still a decent bit of work that needs to be done in order to come anywhere close to this goal, so it will still be a while until the next update is out... especially when it is mostly just me working on this game, LOL.

For now, you guys are free to enjoy whatever knock-off versions of Disbelief that exist (not that anything was really stopping you before... but now you have my awesome meaningless permission).

Cheers.

Nothing new I can show yet, but we are still working...

Localization system is working! All of the game's text is stored in an external json file. You can add more json files into the directory for the game to read from. You can also just... have some fun with it if you want.

I've been working on an option for the game to support higher frame rates. This works with any frame rate so long as it is within a multiple of 30 (60, 90, 120, etc.) It will be 30 by default, but you will be able to change this in the SETTINGS menu.

The car is too tall to jump over...

I started writing a proper cutscene system. The one I had before was not very good... but this new one is making me so proud I could shed a single tear.

Disbelief Fanart Contest - May 2026

Today marks the 9th anniversary of my Undertale fan animation "DISBELIEF" on YouTube!!!

As you know, we're currently working on Undertale: Disbelief, the playable fangame version. Expect an update post later today, along with a little community challenge!

Phase 4 is mostly complete.

Reprogramming is going slowly, but smoothly. I'm not necessarily working on this in order, some of Phase 3 is done and Phase 1 is basically done. All of the overworld areas from the Phase 2 release are there as well. Here is a choppy gif of Phase 2.

Localization system is going smoothly.
