Neutral Chao

You start with him god damn it.

Hero Chao and Dark Chao.

Their quests actually intertwine with each other. First of all, you need to get Dark Blue Run Chao a piece of toast to obtain a minecart. Simply go to Serial Supermarket to get the bread (go inside and then head to the left), then head to Neutral Chao’s Social Club and use the toaster.

Also while you’re at Serial Supermarket, have a look around for Dark Chao and bump into him. He’ll take you outside and reveal Secret Kegs, and the shopkeeper will give you a batch of alcohol, which is an item needed for a quest you probably haven’t even started yet.

Afterwards, you’ll be able to collect Dark Chao from the Dark Garden, just bring a repel with you in case either an Omega SQF or an Alpha Omega SQF attacks. Also, don’t forget the Minecart otherwise you won’t be able to reach him.

Next, interact with Hero Chao in the Hero Garden, he’ll bet against Neutral Chao to see if someone enjoys his debaucheries. This is the part where the minecart is crucial, for Hero Sliver Chaos Chao is the person you need to go to next, and he’s on the fountain, so use that minecart to get across. Interact with him and he’ll ask you to go find some alcohol, but as you have a whole rack (at least you should do if you follow these instructions), simply interact with him again and he’ll give you his praise. Simply go back to Hero Chao and tell him. He’ll join you.

Do note however that you don’t have to do everything in the order I just said. But I believe it’s probably the most efficient.

Garnet Neutral Chao

Garnet Neutral Chao is simple to obtain, just destroy five boxes and he’ll appear in the Neutral Garden, talk to him and he’ll join you. Simple really.

Hero Brown Power Chao

Hero Brown Power Chao will be in the Hero Garden, interact with him to start his mission, which is to place 12 Leaflets on walls in the Hero Garden (2), Serial Supermarket (5), Goodbye Forest (2) and Peace Cliff (3). After all twelve are up, return to HBPC to recruit him.

Dark Garnet Run Chao

Dark Garnet Run Chao, if going for the true ending, is the only optional character in the game. But if one were to go for him, you need to activate the cut-scene where Dark Chao is stuck on an island, and then afterwards, he’ll be in Goodbye Forest. Talk to him in Goodbye Forest to have him challenge Dark Chao. Recruit Dark Chao if you haven’t already and go to the Hero Garden and battle him. You can win or lose, it doesn’t matter bar a change of nicknames for either Dark Chao or DGR Chao.

After the confrontation, head to Peace Cliff and go inside the inn. Talk to him and he’ll join. However, the original “The F’ing Chao Garden” had DGR Chao as a boss. This is the case in Rejuvenated too, but recruiting him will skip his boss fight entirely.
