Not gonna lie I'm a bit shocked I managed to push out a game that wasn't a total buggy mess on release and was actually received pretty well, and despite my funny balancing, I'm thankful for all the positive comments and 100+ followers.
Anyway, I obviously wasn't gonna just let this game lie around the same way it released, nor do i wanna come off like those types of people that just sit on their ass and tell people they suck when there's clearly some issues with the game, balancing especially, so I just released a patch mainly aimed at making the game a bit easier and more understandable:
Night shifts changes:
With the way Bonnie works, she would stop if she's at one of the doors while you're either using corrupt signal on someone or have your lights turned off, but using corrupt signal would only stop her if she was at cam 2 but not 1, that was a minor oversight and has been fixed.
Chica now takes a bit less time to kill you, Vigo even more so since he's the only one without a sound cue.
Spotting Lockjaw on the right now resets his kill timer.Foxy now appears a bit less frequently in cam 11. His previous behaviour has been moved to his aggressive variant.
AI level adjustments in nights 1-6, mostly nerfs.
Dread Mode changes:
Ghoul Freddies now spawn a bit less often in wave 1
Fixed blood splatters not showing up while damaging Ghoul Lockjaw with certain characters.
Added a small visual que that makes it more obvious when you're doing damage in the last phase of The Legend boss fight.
Nightmare Mode changes:
Nerfed the AI in both regular and aggressive variants, cuz yes there is one, I'm pretty cruel.
Added another star in the custom night for beating the latter if you're masochistic enough.
Added a visual tip at the beginning highlighting the areas where you need to point your flashlight.
The floor 1 map is now corrupted with the camera buttons being moved around a bit, should make it a bit easier to understand where N.Lockjaw's upper and lower paths exactly are and where he'd swap after laughing (like from cam 3 to cam 4).
Miscellaneous:
Added a few more entries to the "Also Check Out" section.
Now, this last part is not even related to the patch, but it is something that I was gonna put in the description but then forgot, not like it matters since who even reads descriptions xd.
Will there be any more Legendary Editions and if so, when?
One of the main reasons this exists is because there was simply barely any released content around the third game, so I thought it would at least be a neat start to have a simple recode like this kick things off. The same can't really be said about, well, any other of the original games:
TRTF 2 LE won't happen period. There is just simply no reason for me to, the game's been done to death, arguably even more than the first game, and the very few ways one could expand on the gameplay have already been done by the likes of TRTF 2 Reworked and TRTF 2 Windows 98 Edition.
TRTF 4 LE is an interesting one. Normally that would be the obvious way to go from here, but the more I thought about it, the more I questioned if it would work as well as I'd hope.
Firstly, for the sake of consistency I'd want the game to be in widescreen as well, and while TRTF 3 was perfect for that, the fourth game simply does not work nearly as well in widescreen due to how small the office is by comparison. You can pretty much see the entire entrance without even turning right and that kills the tention quite a bit. On top of that the gameplay would probably undergo even more changes than TRTF 3, whether it is to make the game more fair, to accomodate the new aspect ratio, or give more purpose to scrapped or underutilized mechanics, like smoke/asma and cameras. Then add the fact I'd likely add even more content than I did to TRTF 3 due to how rushed the game was, and I run into a tricky situation where I have to question, whether I'm going way too far from the original to make it as good as possible.
Either way, even if TRTF 4 LE won't happen, the ideas from it might be going somewhere else, not exactly a remake of a specific game that's all I'll say. But that is something you're likely not gonna hear about for a long while, not only cuz it's in an early concept phase and I'm not planning to even focus on it until a fair bit later, but also because I'm probs gonna work on it in secret just like I did on this, and fully reveal it at the same time it releases.
That's all for now, also if you by some chance happened to notice a new build (1.1) a few hours ago, that one is already outdated, this post took so fucking long to write that I ended up changing more things in the meantime. The new one (1.2) will be up right before this post is out.
And lastly I would like to reemphasize that we here at Driya Studios take NDAs very seriously.
