The Plan Going Forward

You may be wondering why I decided to release another demo instead of waiting for the full game. (If not, scroll past this. The notes are below.)

The short of it is that I can’t dedicate as much time towards RPG making as I used to be able to. I realized that if I waited until I completed the full game, it would be much too long of a wait. Plus, I think it’s been over 2 years since I released the original demo. Ultimately, I decided it would be better to give everyone new content every so often instead of making everyone wait until the full release with no updates in between.

That being said, I now plan to use an “episodic” pattern of releasing demos. When I finish making a dungeon and its segment of the story, I’ll release it as part of a new demo. I think the upsides of this plan outweigh any downsides.

Anyway, onto the release notes!

cold trail demo 2 v1.0.0 release notes

Highlights

-The story continues... Radovan's rescue mission for his brother-in-arms has become more complicated!

-Enter the Wanderer’s Woods, an enchanted forest with some puzzling paths and tucked-away treasures!

-Use the Bestiary to get the edge on your enemies!

Dialogue, Text, Descriptions, etc

-Some typo fixes here and there.

-Changes to dialogue in various scenes to make the story clearer and make more sense.

-Adjusted Radovan’s description in the Status menu.

-The save menu now has some text displaying the Arc you’re in.

-The Main Menu now displays your location at the bottom of the screen.

Location Stuff

General

-Dungeons now have “entrance” sections.

-These are meant to make the transition between dungeons and Doya (or the world map, once it’s implemented) smoother.

First Steppes

-You can now take down Radovan’s tent in Radovan’s Camp.

-There are now less encounters.

-Some encounters have less enemies.

Oldtown

-There are now less encounters.

Character Skills and Stats

General

-The amount of EXP needed to gain level ups has been changed.

-Originally, you needed 65 exp to hit Lv2, then 130 for Lv3, then 195 for Lv4, and so on.

-Now, it starts at 50 exp, and the exp needed for each subsequent level up increases non-linearly.

Radovan

-Flash Slash

            -Act Spd: +20 -> +40

-Break

            -Act Spd: +5 -> +10

-Shield

-Act Spd: +5 -> +15

Mira

-Hide

            Crit Bonus: +10% -> +15%

Ulthur

-Heal

            -Power: 1.9 -> 2.0

            -Act Spd: 0 -> +3

Book and Convo Skills

-The Skill Books for Dragonleap, Bewitching Blade, and other skills are no longer available in the Doya Library.

-This is because you will now gain some extra skills by talking to party members at the Doya Inn.

-Barrier is now replaced by Barrier Block, which is learned by talking to Ulthur.

            -Barrier Block reduces damage taken and damage dealt for 5 turns.

-Bracing Blow

            -Act Spd: +5 -> +10

-Shatter

            -Act Spd: +5 -> +10

-Tire Fire

            -Act Spd: 0 -> +5

Equipment, Items, and Shops

Staves

-All staves now grant a little extra Mnd.

-This will also make Ulthur’s healing stronger.

Enemy Stats and Skills

-A bunch of stat adjustments that I didn’t really keep track of.

-It’s probably fine.

-Right, the Rededge Grunts in Doya are now called Rededge Goons.

Next up

I've recently started working on my next project, The Cold Trail. It's about Radovan looking for his brother-in-arms in the untamed tundra.

Feel free to check out the game page if you're interested. I'll have a demo out next month.

the game'll be free :)

The full version of the Cursed Sword of KYLE is now released!

Now, our somewhat experienced adventurers can complete their quest to deal with a certain troublesome treasure.

The main story is about 4-5 hours long, with some optional stuff here and there.

kyletower 1.0.6 patch notes

Some of the changes here were based on a review on the rpgmaker.net page.

The game is a bit more difficult now, but the XP and Sil pool is larger to compensate.

When you forge into the tundra, it pushes back...

The demo for The Cold Trail is now available!

It features about an hour of content, including a couple of dungeons and an introduction to the story and characters.

Feel free to take a gander if interested.

I FINALLY finished all the pictures that'll be used in the game. I just need to make the scenes and music, and it'll be done.

-----------------

AL FIN terminé todas las imágenes que se usarán en el juego. Sólo me queda hacer las escenas y música, y listo.

The sequel to The Tower of KYLE now has it's own game page (linked below)! It'll be rather longer than its predecessor, so I'll need a while to work on it. I plan to release a demo next month, though.

-Added a new battle start animation

I'll eventually make this animation and another one available for download.

Growing of the brawling club while you win fights.

I experimented with battle start animations in RPG Maker VX Ace and made a good few of them. I may make more if there's any demand. I could make a tutorial for how to make these, too...

The video shows how they look in action:
