Reboot Project – Developer Article
Reboot Project is a puzzle-platformer I developed entirely on my own, designed with a clear goal in mind: create a challenging but fair experience that gradually tests the player's logic, timing, and adaptability. The game consists of 24 handcrafted levels, each introducing new mechanics and ideas while keeping the core gameplay tight and straightforward.
Although the structure focuses on puzzles and platforming, the game also includes a simple narrative told through in-game dialogue, giving players context and personality as they progress. This story element appears naturally during gameplay without interrupting the flow, so players can enjoy both progression and world-building at the same time.
The mechanics are kept intentionally accessible:
WASD for movement and jumping
Spacebar to throw a boomerang, introduced right in Level 1
Fully playable on both PC and mobile, with controls adapted for each device
Each level challenges the player to analyze their surroundings, use the boomerang creatively, and interact with platforms and objects to ultimately reach the exit door. My focus while designing the puzzles was to ensure that every challenge feels logical—no guessing, no cheap difficulty spikes. If a player fails, it's because they misunderstood something, not because the game was unfair.
Developing Reboot Project taught me a lot about level flow, puzzle communication, and cross-platform optimization. Balancing readability, difficulty, and performance across devices pushed me to refine my approach and think more like a professional game designer.
I hope players enjoy exploring the game as much as I enjoyed building it. Any feedback—positive or critical—is extremely valuable, as it helps me improve future projects and continue growing as a developer.
