A photo booth is a vending machine that takes instant photos. After you pay, usually in coins, a computer-based screen and often a recorded voice will tell you when the picture will be taken, how many shots will be taken, and when the photo is developed.
In Japan, purikura refers to a photo sticker booth or the product of such a photo booth. The name is a shortened form of the registered trademark Purinto Kurabu. The term derives from the English print club. However, despite how cool these purikura machines are, boys like me are NOT allowed to get in until they're accompanied by a girl. In my opinion, I think it makes sense because of the way it looks.
