If it were not for me deciding to sit down one day and make something stupid to show off to people, I would not be the same person I am now, genuinely. As soon as I released this game back in March of 2021, it immediately blew up on scratch and it now has over 7K views on that platform alone. It is because of this game that I'm actually able to make stuff for an audience still to this day and for that I am very appreciative and grateful for it. It puts a smile on my face whenever I see an ONIBK fangame, not too many scratch devs can say that they've made a game that spawned a whole subgenre of fangames, that is truly something special.

Now while I am aware this game isn't the best to put it nice, I don't really care that it's my most popular game overall. I have many fond memories of this game and its rise in popularity over the years. But I also associate a lot of bad memories with this game.

The absolutely atrocious plagiarism issues I was facing on scratch with this game specifically was absolutely absurd. To this day thieves keep reuploading this game and remixing it without credit or changing a thing which is the entire reason I switched over to Gamejolt because the report button here actually means something (plus there is no remix feature which is always a good thing).

Although probably the thing I am most upset about is the reputation this game gave me as well as PNG fangames on scratch as a whole. Every time I would announce a new game that wasn't ONIBK related it would just be written off by one half of the people thinking it was just another "joke" game and the other half of people consisting of the ONIBK superfans just not caring because it isn't a new ONIBK game.

And almost more upsettingly this game made (for a long while) the perception that all PNG scratch games were lazy and bad when that really couldn't be further from the truth. While yeah this game and really the first 3 games in this series didn't have a lot of time and care put into them it's pretty stupid to assume that all games to come after in this style are bad, clearly now that isn't true as there are many really high quality PNG games being made in scratch, just see my most recent stuff as an example.

Ultimately, I'm thankful for the platform this game has given me however, I am trying to stray away from making games like these as I really wanna try to make more serious games that are of high quality. Of course, I still love making humor based games, and that will probably never change however I don't want these games labeled as "joke" games because to me they aren't. ONIBK 5 to this day remains my magnum opus because I worked my ass off to make that game for 2 years and the result was my most high quality work to date. That's the kind of game I strive to make, and it's the kind of game I've always wanted to make. And I hope you guys will continue to follow and enjoy as I continue to make whatever I desire.

I've been making games since mid 2020 and even as I grow and are starting to transition into regular adult life, I do not plan on stopping any time soon. And I also still plan on making one very last game in this series...
